Why has no one told me about badass pilot Douglas Bader? (15 Photos)

There's no sugar-coating it. If you were a pilot in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) during the Battle of Britain in 1941, you were a certifiable badass. You're up there, fighting Nazi's at 348 miles per hour, thousands of feet up in the air, doing barrel rolls and serving as at the only thing that's preventing the Nazi's from bombing the hell out of the free world and taking it over. Granted, there were thousands of pilots, and thousands of heroic stories, but there was one man who stands out above the rest. Flight Commander Douglas Baker; a badass, pipe-smoking, mr. steal-your-dame, gunslinging pilot who repeatedly kicked Nazi ass, stands out above the rest. Why? because he's a war hero, with over 20 confirmed kills, and he did it without legs. Now that's fucking metal.

Before these domains became popular, they were just regular websites (14 Photos)

I never would have guessed it, but some of the most popular domain names on the web today, actually had incarnations before Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates got their hands on them. Back in the late 90's and early 00's, no one expected to be ordering things online, have apps to order cabs and social media was a thing that only tech savvy kids were into, and back then it was all about writing song lyrics as your status and secretly creeping your crush. Ok, we still do that. No one would have guessed that these URLs would have turned into the hugely trafficked site that they've become. Who'd have guessed that 10-15 years ago, the internet was a wild west of basic web design and defunct products, and lucky for us Essayroo put together some history of early website domains, and they're wild. Check them out.
