A growing number of countries in the world are switching to polymer banknotes, and for good reason. These plastic covered bills were first developed and issued by Australia in 1988. While polymer notes are more expensive to make, they have a lifespan five times longer than paper money, and thanks to features like transparent windows, increased color and holograms they are almost impossible to counterfeit. The bills are basically indestructible. Seriously, you can't rip them, they're waterproof and they don't crease or wrinkle.
