Building a world record breaker the “Sailrocket 2” (38 Photos)

The "Sailrocket 2" was built by project leader Paul Larsen with sponsorship funding from a Danish wind turbine company named Vestas.  Off the coast of Walvis Bay in Namibia (located just north of South Africa), Mr. Larsen's project would go on to break the previou world record speed of 64mph by achieving the speed of 59.38 knots which equates to 68.3mph. The first record run took place on November 16th of 2012 and days later, on the 24th, the Sailrocket 2 would break it's own record with a 1 mile run at a speed of 65.45 knots which is over 75mph.
