Rome $10 million/episode Overlapping Deadwood by one season, HBO had the tricky situation of airing 2 super expensive shows at once. Luckily they partnered with BBC who contributed 15% of the cost in exchange for the airing rights for the UK. The show won 7 Emmys and was loved by critics and historians alike, but after 2 seasons it was cancelled due to the growing lengths that had to be made to keep it as accurate as possible. They couldn't even use the Roman set for other future projects because a fire destroyed part of it.

Ernest "Smokey" Smith . He had a knack for stirring up trouble, and was promoted to corporal then demoted to private a whopping 9 times. But when the going got tough, and it was time to fight, he was a legend. In October of 1944, Smith and his platoon were sent to secure an important beachhead in Northern Italy against the Germans. After the beachhead was captured, they fell victim to heavy fire: three Panther tanks, self-propelled artillery guns, and a horde of infantry to retake control. Without hesitation, Smith whipped out his PIAT anti-tank bazooka and walked within 10 meters of the first tank and took it out with one shot. The Germans, who were in shock at the nerve of this bad ass mother f*cker, sent 10 infantrymen to take him out. What did Smokey do? He took out his Tommy Gun and stood there spraying bullets. After taking out 4 men, the remaining 6 retreated. He continued to stand his ground while defending a wounded comrade, forcing the Germans to retreat. After carrying his friend to safety, his platoon were able to secure the beachhead.

Lately, there's a been a lot of talk about vikings; either the actual ones and their visit and early colonization of Canada, to the TV show Vikings, to even the more nordic aspects of Game of Thrones; Vikings are making a comeback and if you want to live that life, there is a place that you can get your Thor on. Called Torvik, these guys aren't new to the whole "I wanna be a giant dude with a beard, wear some homemade, deer cloth clothing and a big-freaking-axe trend;" they've been doing it for a while. And yes, they're recruiting.
