There are few things more patriotic than winning an Olympic medal for your country, but what do these athletes actually earn? You have to remember training for the Olympics is a full-time job in itself. The A-list athletes are earning a great deal of money from sponsors and other endorsements. Most athletes will have travel expenses covered, but most of the time these funds are not being covered by governments. Rather, corporate and private donors handle the bill. Money Under 30 collected how much certain countries pay their Olympic athletes per medal (Based on 08/09/2016 exchange rates and rounded to nearest 1,000). Singapore Gold: $741,000 USD Silver: $371,000 USD Bronze: $185,000 USD
